The Danube Bend is one of the most beautiful regions in Hungary and is located near Budapest. That is why this region is ideal for a day trip. On a full-day excursion, which lasts about 8-9 hours, you can already reach and visit the most important sights and viewpoints of the region.
First we drive along one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the Budapest region towards Esztergom. If visibility is good, a short stop at the highest mountain in the region is worthwhile. Then it’s on to the capital of the Catholic Church of Hungary with the largest basilica, Esztergom. We can of course visit the basilica from the inside, but you also have the opportunity to climb up the dome.
From Esztergom we continue to Visegrád. The town with the high fortress was temporarily the royal seat of Hungary in the Middle Ages. We visit the fortress with the castle museum and enjoy the wonderful view of the Danube.
From Visegrád we drive along the Danube (downstream) to the small baroque artist town of Szentendre, where you can enjoy the special atmosphere of the small old town after a short guided tour.
