Győr is the largest city in western Hungary and is not only economically an important metropolis in the region, but the city has also historically and culturally a significant role. As both a Catholic and a Lutheran bishop’s seat, the city has of course numerous relegios sights. The architectural monuments of the baroque period are famous across the whole country. The walking tour in the old town leads to the most important sights and walks along the beautiful river banks are also possible.
We spend the afternoon in Pannonhalma. The small village is only 20 km away from Győr and is famous for the Benedictine Abbey founded in 996, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
