Public transportation

First, you will need tickets that you can buy from ticket machines, at newsagents or from bus drivers (it costs a little bit more). Get on the Bus 200E - the you can find the bus stop at the arrival level of the airport between terminals 2A and 2B- and also next to the terminal 1. It takes 15-20 minutes to reach the final station "Kőbánya-Kispest".

There you can change to metro line 3 that takes you straight to Downtown. At the metro station you can buy more tickets, for example the 24 or 72 hours tickets, weekly passes, etc.

In December 2010 Budapest Airport entered in a contract with Főtaxi Company, so the cabs, which stand in front of the terminals, belong to that. With these cabs you can go to the city easily.

The fee depends on the location of your goal, the official taxi fare in the city is 280 HUF / km. The price at the end varies between 5.000 and 10.000 HUF depending on the distance.

The service works reliable; averagely you can get a cab in 3-4 minutes. You can use Fötaxi in case of travelling from the city to the airport. You can order a taxi calling 00 36 1 222 2222 .

Of course you can use other Budapest taxi companies. In case of an order these cabs arrive to the gates under 4-5 minutes. The price must be the same official fee as by Főtaxi (280 HUF / km).

Some companies that I recommend you with warm heart:

Citytaxi: (+36 1) 211 1111

Fötaxi: (+36 1) 222 2222
Taxi 6x6: (+36 1) 666 6666
Taxi 4: (+36 1) 444 4444
Budapest Taxi: (+36 1) 777 7777
Airport Shuttle Minibus

The Airport Minibus service is mostly useful to those who travel to downtown alone. These minibuses are operating as pickup cabs. The price depends on the target. The stops of the Airport Minibus can be found on each terminal's arrival level.

More information:

The stop Budapest- Ferihegy locates at the terminal Ferihegy 1. You can reach this from Terminal 2 by taking the bus 200E toward the inner city - and it takes around 10 minutes to get there. Between Terminal 1 and the train station there is a gallery. Trains arrive in daytime around every 20 minutes. At night and early in morning this is rarer.

One ticket costs 365 Forint that you can buy inside Terminal 1 by the tourist information desk. If you find the desk closed, you can buy tickets from the ticket machines or from the ticket inspector on the bus.
